What is international women’s day? Well, on the 8th March, it is a day to celebrate the achievements and progression women have made socially, politically and economically and will continue to do in the future. What is international women’s day? Well, on the 8th March, it is a day to celebrate the achievements and progression women have made socially, politically and economically and will continue to do in the future. The main focus this year is “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” which fits perfectly with the daunting climate crisis we are facing.

Women across the world play a massive role in climate change as they will be one of the worst affected by it in the future. There are women out there like Greta Thunberg who continually fight and speak out against climate injustice to politicians. She also started a national school strike every Friday to encourage younger generations to protest against the lack of change governments have done for climate change. There are hundreds upon thousands of women out there making big and small changes to their lifestyles so we can all have a future on this planet.

Women and girls around the world are more at risk from the effects of climate change which drives them to speak out about it. They consist of the majority of the world's poor and in developing countries have a bigger impact on natural disasters. Inequality is one of the driving factors as girls in these areas are more likely to be pulled out of school to help around the house more instead of getting an education which will help them in the future. This international day however, wants to help more women to push for investments into solving these problems and getting more women involved in leading a more green world. This is being done by the Action Coalition this year as it will help women to be less affected by climate change. Everyone should be pushing for a sustainable world for everyone and it shouldn't matter if you are black, white, male or female. Nobody should have to be more affected by climate change just because of the gender they were assigned at birth.
