The Your UK Parliament Awards celebrates people across the UK who have taken action on the issues they care about by engaging with the UK Parliament. With nearly 288 nominations, Teach the Future was recognised as ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Digital Campaigner of the Year Category.’ Digital Campaign or Campaigner of the Year celebrates the work of an individual or organisation that has made an impact and created change by campaigning online, using social media and other digital tools. Although we did not win, it feels amazing to be recognised for all our online campaign work.

Although we did not win, it feels amazing to be recognised for all our online campaign work. We were the runners up alongside winner, Lorna Fillingham who has ‘campaigned tirelessly to make Changing Places toilets mandatory in building regulations, especially for public buildings and complexes. Changing Places toilets have a hoist, adult changing bench and space for carers.’ A brilliant and important campaign - congratulations Laura!
With campaigning online, it’s easy to go unnoticed so we’re proud that Teach the Future was recognised amongst all the fabulous nominations who were put forward. Working digitally allows us to be a nationwide campaign consisting of young people from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Without the ability to work online, Teach the Future would be nowhere near where we are now. Through TfF, it is awesome to be able to meet and work with like minded, passionate young people from across the UK, mobilising online to campaign for Climate Education nationwide.
With that being said, we’re always on the lookout for more young people to join our organisation! From policy to graphics and talking to politicians to working on social media, your skills are needed! Our Northern Ireland Teach the Future team have recently started their campaign for Climate Education in Northern Ireland. Aged 14 - 26? TtF NI needs you!! Sign up to join the team and be a volunteer here: https://www.teachthefuture.uk/an/volunteer.
Thank you to the Your Parliament Awards for recognising us! And of course to the brilliant Teach the Future Student staff, Student Volunteers and our parent campaign, SOS UK who make our work happen! Here’s to more digital work and online campaigning to make compulsory, nationwide Climate Education a reality in schools across the UK.
