Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Absolutely yes, there isn't an area in the curriculum from food through to fashion, science, the arts and humanities that isn't affected by climate change.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

Yes, we are already experiencing the effects of climate change, we need the skills to deal with the effects but we also need the skills to problem-solve, to find new solutions and fix this mess together.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

Yes of course, but this needs to be as part of dedicated INSET and not something teachers are expected to learn in their own time.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

As a Green I support retrofitting and improving the efficiency of existing buildings yes, I wouldn't want to see buildings demolished unless the materials could be reused but any new developments should be built with low carbon technologies in mind and whole-life considerations.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Yes, vocational green skills are essential to the labour market of the future.
