Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes - I believe it's important that climate is taught throughout our curriculum. Every subject can have an impact on how future generations react to adapting to the climate crisis and how they can hold previous generations to account.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

Yes - It is so important that young people know about the climate crisis which for many will define their lives.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

"Yes - Teachers are some of the most important people in our society, it is so important that they have full evidence-based knowledge on the climate crisis. For many teachers, this will never have come up before so extra education for teaching staff is crucial."
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

"Yes - We need to invest heavily in all public sector buildings from schools to council buildings to ensure we can tackle the climate crisis. Many school campuses are in desperate need of repair and the work needed for decarbonisation is a great way to upgrade our schools."
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

"Yes - As a young person I am dismayed that I never had the opportunity to learn or develop Green Skills whilst at school in Livingston. Livingston used to be the technological hub of industry here in Scotland, I believe that with education and investment, we can be the heart of Scotland's clean industry revolution."
