Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes - you may have seen from our Green Party manifesto that there is no single climate section, rather climate change mitigation and adaption is worked into every part of what we are proposing, because it is and will become even more fundamental to daily life. And in the same way, it needs to be reflected in every aspect of the curriculum.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

Yes - it will be important for young people to understand the existing and emerging solutions, for hope but also to encourage consideration of a career in an expanding universe of climate related jobs and academic work
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

Yes - educators need to have all the tools necessary, and the training themselves in climate change causes, impacts and solutions
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

Absolutely - the schools estate across the country has a huge footprint and retrofitting the fabric school buildings and adding low carbon technology will further embed climate learning as well as lowering the emissions from school buildings.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Definitely - support for green skills training is something I actively promote as a district and county councillor. In the past six months there has been really positive local action on this in my area.
