Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes. Clearly care should be taken to ensure a curriculum is appropriate and top-down reforms in education can be problematic so we would want to do so with the support and united effort of whole school communities. But in principle the answer is yes.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

    Yes.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

    Yes.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

As a former education portfolio holder, I am proud of the environmental protections we implemented when building new classrooms and schools, including forest schools, supporting sustainable travel and walking routes, and solar panels on roofs of buildings. This is something that I would be very keen to support going forward.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Yes; I see no reason to not support this.
