Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes. The Green Party will ensure every child can learn about the climate and biodiversity crisis to equip them for the challenges ahead. One priority is to ensure effective delivery of the new Natural History GCSE.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

    Yes.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

    Yes.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

Yes. The current UK commitment to net zero by 2050 fails to reflect that we can – and must – do so much more. Elected Greens will push for: • Investment in energy storage capacity and more efficient electricity distribution. • Communities to own their own energy sources, ensuring they can use any profit from selling excess energy to reduce their bills or benefit their communities. To stop all new fossil fuel extraction projects in the United Kingdom and to cancel recently issued fossil fuel licences, such as for Rosebank. We will also end all subsidies to the oil and gas industries. The Green Party will spend £4bn on retrofitting, including insulation for public buildings.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Yes. Elected Greens will push for investment in skills and training (including retrofitting) reaching £4bn per year, allowing workers to be prepared for the transition and the new roles they can take on.
