I 100% support better integration of climate change into each subject in the curriculum, but I do feel it should also be a stand-alone subject. It is the most major risk to society, and whilst my focus is on #Erewash and the UK in this election. It is a worldwide issue, and I have long held opinions on Climate Change https://x.com/search?q=%40csljohnkirby%20%2B%20cliamte%20change&src=typed_query&f=live
My view is The sooner humanity realises that we all, regardless of gender, colour, creed, sexuality, religion breathe one common air under one common canopy - for we are all equal, all making a single journey from birth to death, and use that knowledge to help each other the better https://x.com/csljohnkirby/status/1612195277439471616 So we have to look at the causes and impacts, we do not live in isolation.
Education is crucial; enhanced understanding is critical, too often when we speak of education, it is assumes it is about pupils and students, but life-long longer is about all of us. So yes, teachers and lecturers need to have access to the very best resources, and honest data, so they can do their best by those in their charge.
The condition of the buildings in UK education is a national disgrace, and the energy wasted is abhorrent, both for the environment and for the financial impact. I know your question asked if they should be carbon-neutral, but more than that they need to be safe. Look at the numbers without sprinkler systems for example
The sadness here is the British People are let down, we do not have enough Technical Training Colleges, we undervalue trade skills, and we have unemployment. I believe in the benefit system, and of having a safety net, but surely, if you are fit and well, after 3 months of employment, a training course should be offered. We have a real need for Green Skills, and we have a skill shortage in many areas. It is crucial to our economy that we upskill people, have learning for life, and we need economic growth to fund the much needed services, we need for our society
