Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes. Everything is connected and climate impacts all aspects of life - economics, geography, business, home economics, sciences, languages and more can benefit from intelligent integration of climate messages and content.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

Of course - solutions must be offered in an informative and non-judgmental way, but they are essential. Climate anxiety is a real issue for young people, and we must address this by providing positive answers to what can and must be done, and help them devise their own answers and be part of the solution to the climate crisis.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

    Yes - absolutely essential.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

Yes of course - insulation, solar, heat pumps etc are all necessary for many buildings. Improved waste and resource management, better reuse , less packaging and smart management of food to avoid waste - all essential.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Yes I do, but I think that we might need to move away from the expression 'green skills' - future skills simply needs to be mainstream and designed to address and respond to climate challenges and be part of the new industries and services that will be the solution to the climate crisis.
