Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

Yes – climate change is applicable through every subject, and the best way of learning is in an integrated manner.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

Yes – I would say that part of that should be on specific solutions, but part of that should be on the analysis and structure of how to correctly analyse and respond to the causes and impacts.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

Yes – the more everyone is aware of the impact of climate change, the better.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

Yes – and I have been pursuing Oldham Council to provide detail of how its net-zero ambition for 2030 can be met in practice, and one important aspect is Council-owned buildings, of which there are a lot at the primary school level.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

Yes – we need more education that is vocational, and environmental technology should be the driver of our economy both in the short term and long term.
