Candidate's Responses

  1. Do you support the integration of climate change throughout every subject?

As a Historian I am very aware that climate change has had an impact on the lives and decisions of people throughout history including being the direct cause of major events including the Viking age. By learning from the way natural climate change effected our past we can learn how to deal with the human accelerated climate change of modern times.
  2. Do you support the teaching on solutions for climate change, as well as the causes and impacts?

There is no point in dwelling on the doom and gloom of what has caused it if we are not instilling the hope of what a solution looks like. Additionally, there needs to be a GCSE in Natural History.
  3. Do they support more training for all teachers around the climate crisis?

    Yes.
  4. Do they support more money being spent to upgrade schools so they are carbon neutral?

Even when not thinking about carbon neutrality it is clear that too many school building are out of date and no longer fit for purpose. Carbon neutrality will save schools thousands in the long run.
  5. Do they support more green skills being taught in job-related education?

They are the jobs of the future and school should help prepare those who do not wish to pressure a traditional academic pathway to be ready for this future work.
